Signed and Numbered Serigraph Print

30 x 15

This poster print was created when a customer asked me to make a masterpiece painting about a historical house he and his sweetheart visited.  After I created the painting, I decided to share this art with the world.  I made a series of posters.

This Johnstone House is a love story.

In the early 1830’s James Johnstone, an Ohio Real Estate Broker moved to the Mexican Territory of California where he developed a successful business in San Francisco.  There he met and fell in love with Petra Maria de Jara, a lovely Mexican neighbor.  During the Gold Rush the European United States citizens immigrating into California lobbied for laws that would release the Mexican citizens of their property.  James was saddened by the threat to his neighbors loosing their homes. Because he understood real estate law, he worked as an a legal advocate, winning not only his friend's legal real estate disputes, but also Petra’s heart.

When they married, he build her this house as a wedding present.

The Johnstone House is now a State Landmark 501-C and can be visited in Half Moon Bay just off Highway 1.
